The best Discord bots for moderation in 2026

We tested 14 moderation bots head-to-head, Wick, Carl-bot, MEE6, Dyno, and the rest. Here's what we'd actually install on a 50k-member server.

TopDiscord Editorial

Moderation bots are the difference between a chill 50k-member server and a 50k-member trash fire. We tested 14 of them, both classic names and 2025 newcomers, against a realistic spam attack scenario plus a week of normal operation.

TL;DR

For most servers, Wick is the heavyweight option, Carl-bot the do-everything Swiss army knife, and Dyno the steady reliable pick if you don't need fancy features.

How we tested

We built a 4,000-member test server, simulated:

  • Account-age spam attack (5 fresh accounts joining + dumping links)
  • Raid attack (30 accounts in 60 seconds)
  • Slow-burn troll (one account posting borderline content over a week)
  • Routine moderation: warnings, mutes, ban appeals

Results

Anti-raid

Wick caught every raid scenario in under 4 seconds. Carl-bot took 8-12 seconds; Dyno's defaults missed two scenarios entirely until we tuned them.

Automod rules

Carl-bot has the most flexible rule builder by a wide margin. Wick is more opinionated, it works great if you accept its defaults, less great if you want fine control.

Logging

All three handle audit logging well. We'd give Carl-bot the edge for the cleanest log presentation.

Bot footprint

MEE6's free tier is too crippled for most servers in 2026. Skip it unless you're paying for premium.

Our pick

For a brand-new server: install Carl-bot and Wick. Configure Carl-bot for the day-to-day, let Wick handle anti-raid + account verification.
